Harryt Wincott Dies
The Londoner who wrote the song "Mademoiselle from Armetiers," "The Old Dun Cow Caught Fire," and scores of other music hall favourites, is dead. Harry Wincott, who wrote his first song at the age of nine, has died in Yeovil, aged 80.
Later he wrote "Any Old Iron" and "Boiled Beef and Carrots." His last published song, written during the war, was "On the Road to Victory," and was broadcast by the B.B.C.
Harry Wincott, who was born in Walworth-road, Camberwell, began his working days as a ledger clerk with Cassel, the publishers.
