Hubert Cecil GEE |
THE ESSEX COUNTY CHRONICLE, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 1913
A BARRISTER FROM THE PEOPLE.
Mr. Hubert C. Gee, M.A., son of Mr. Wm.
Gee, of 18 Jervis Road. Bishop Stortford,
has passed his final examination for a bar-
rister. He is a member of Lincoln's Inn.
and will practice on the common law side.
The new barrister is an instance of what a
youth of humble origin can do by his own
unaided efforts. His father is in the em-
ploy of the Bishop Stortford and Harlow
Gas Company, and until the street lamps
were lit and extinguished automatically
was a lamplighter, and is now employed as
a lamp cleaner. His son received his edu-
cation at St. Michael's Council School, in
which he beacme a pupil teacher, and later
he was a schoolmaster at Lowestoft. In his
spare time he studied law, with the result
that he is now about to be called to the Bar.
